International cooperation!
The Local Action Group Weidse Veenweiden is also working together with other Leader-areas on the themes of the development plan.
So far the LAG has already one cooperation project in progress: Lekker Utregs. This project is acooperation of the Leader areas Weidse Veenweiden and Kromme Rijn and several local partners. One of the goals of the project is realising distritbution channels for regional products.
The LAG is also preparing two other cooperation projects. One is about the Limes, the old northern border of the Roman Empire. This is a cooperation with a few other Dutch Leader areas along this old border.
The other cooperation project is an international cooperation with two areas which are also very close to big cities: Pajottenland near Brussels and Plaine de Versailles near Versailles and Paris. This project will be about regional branding, improving the urban-rural relationship and with attention for sustainability. On 18 and 19 October 2010 there has been a preliminary exchange visit to have a "sneak preview" of each others current projects and to work on the project proposal for international cooperation. The project will run from 2011 until end of 2013.
